G.E.M.S. Model B-2000
The Greitzer GEMS Model B-2000 has been developed specifically for those existing operations where energy management is needed, but where the time the facility would have to be closed down to rip up floors, walls and ceilings to run the necessary hard wire needed for a conventional energy management system makes the cost of installation too high. The GEMS Model B-2000 can be installed in one night by our installation crews, allowing you to continue your operation with no lost production time.
Greitzer, Inc. is able to link the equipment you wish to control to its automatic andlor manual control panels by superimposing high frequency signals over the existing power lines. The only power required is one 120 volt single phase source which can be either hard wired into our control system, or taken by a cord and plug from any 15 ampere 120 volt receptacle. From this one electrical connection, the GEMS Model B-2000 sends signals through the line to the main building power panel and then throughout the whole building. The GEMS Model 8-2000 receivers take their power from the equipment to be controlled by the system in such a manner that while they receive all commands sent by the control panel, they respond only to the signals meant for the equipment they are to control.
The Greitzer GEMS Model B-2000 is designed especially for Fast Food Operations, Restaurants, Institutional Kitchens and other commercial buildings where Time of Day, Demand and Cycling controls are needed in an
existing building.
The Greitzer GEMS Model B-2000 is capable of handling up to two thousand discrete circuits on demand, time of day, and cycling functions. The system may be used within a Greitzer, Inc. Power-Pak to control both equipment connected to the Power-Pak, as well as HVAC, lighting, boilers, etc. remote from the Power-Pak, or it may be installed separately.
The Greitzer GEMS Model B-2000 is designed to lower electric bills in three ways:
Time of Day functjon allows the customer to automatically stagger equipment start up to reduce KW demand during - start up, as well as to turn off equipment that is not needed.
Demand function monitors demand, and should the KW demand exceed any predetermined KW load, the system will automatically turn off those pieces of equipment the operator has determined may be turned off. The Model B-2000 will keep the equipment off until either the KW demand drops below a predetermined point or overrides such as maximum temperature or time period determined by the operator, has been reached.
Cycling function allows the operator to "fine tune" his system by turning off equipment for a few seconds each minute or a few minutes each hour, thereby reducing kilowatt hours consumed without affecting equipment efficiency. (For example, we have found it possible to turn off certain pieces of cooking equipment for 15-60 seconds each five to ten minutes without affecting the cooking time or quality of the product).
The Greitzer GEMS Model B-2000 is so flexible we have found no piece of equipment that cannot be both controlled and protected by our system.
Using a Greitzer Energy Management
System Makes Good Business Sense:
It is a generally accepted business principal that if you are a giant corporation, a capital expenditure should pay for itself in approximately five years to warrant the expenditure.
If you are a medium-size or small organization, this type of capital expenditure should pay for itself in 2-3 years, to warrant the expenditure.
But when an expenditure pays for itself within one to two years, as most Greitzer energy management systems do, you are actually losing money by not having the equipment.
